Miles Davis, Sketches of Spain
A graphic dedication to Sketches of Spain, the album Miles Davis recorded from November 1959 to March 1960 at Columbia 30th Street Studio in New York City.
The album includes an extended version of the second movement of Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez (1939) and “Will o’ the Wisp” from Manuel de Falla’s ballet El amor brujo (1914 to 1915). It is regarded as an exemplary Third Stream recording, a fusion of jazz, European classical music and styles from world music.
